Review: Tangent Drum by Audio Brewers

Audio Brewers have a reputation for very detailed sampling and presenting their libraries in both Stereo and Ambisonics.  Like Piano Forte, Tangent Drum has the same pristine sampling, intuitive GUI and sound design capabilities. I was right at home working with this instrument from the get-go and I think when developers have cohesion throughout their product range, that is a definite plus. With a deep but simple layout, Tangent Drum is very easy to get both organic and cinematic timbres out of. The key part of the instrument for me though is the sound design. I could quite easily get lost making up new and wonderful sounds. The on-board effects are great and of course the initial sampling is first rate. The deconstructed samples allow us to use a 10 or 12 steel tongue drum over six octaves, in any key, without any unpleasant overtones or harmonic resonances. All in all, this is fantastic value for money and a great instrument for the modern composer.

Tangent Drum normally sells for €69 but is currently on sale (at the time of publishing) for €39 from Audio Brewers
