First Look: PerfPerc Volume II by Performance Samples

I was lucky enough to review the first instalment and I was really impressed by the different approach to sampling. Instead of traditional samples, all of the material has been derived from repeated performances resulting in a more natural and human feel. The overall sampling was excellent as were the playable rolls which sounded so natural. My only area for improvement was more instruments, specifically metals. Well now the second volume has arrived and this features over 15 new instruments, many with a world leaning. Continue watching to see and hear what PerfPerc II has to offer.

With Volume I, Performance Samples showed a huge level of innovation with their playable rolls and and performance sampling. The ability to create really naturally, human sounding ensembles in a matter of minutes was inspiring. Now, Volume II takes the same scripting and innovation and applies it to a whole new set of predominantly world instruments. The result across the two volumes is an expanded palette of percussion instruments with both traditional and world influences. For ensemble and lifelike performances these are a worthy addition to anyone’s workflow.
