First Look: MAD RockScore by Handheld Sound

MAD RockScore’s dynamic range and playability will be great for creating realistic drum performances for your scores or songs.  The deep-sampled cymbals are a standout while the 3 iconic drums kits and mixing options of this Kontakt instrument extend the range from delicate to bombastic.

First Look: MAD RockScore by Handheld Sound

I’ve been a fan of what Handheld Sound has done with percussion since their update to the popular FlyingHand Percussion library, and have previously reviewed the first of the “MAD” series, MAD RocknFunk. With the latest release, MAD RockScore sampled on a scoring stage, I couldn’t wait to hear what the instrument delivered.

MAD RockScore has a few things that set it apart from other drum libraries. First, the 3 iconic drum kits and cymbal set are deeply sampled on a scoring stage. Next, the engine allows for sonic sculpting with a mixer engine and mixer presets. And lastly, the library is mapped in a way to make performing the drum parts, complex rolls, and fills on a midi keyboard intuitive and exciting.
