Review: Mission 6 by UVI
Mission 6 is an emulation of a 16-voice analog soft synth from 2000 that has tons of presets, character, and a deeply tweakable interface.

Thoughts
Mission 6 is UVI’s reimagining of a polysynth from the early 2000s – the Alesis Andromeda A6. The hardware that inspired Mission 6 included 16 multi-timbral parts, both cross and ring modulation, and came with multiple LFOs, filters, and a modulation matrix that added flexibility and power. Mission 6 has something for both the preset user – with 400 factory presets – and for the sound designer who wants to roll up the sleeves and create something sonically unique. The engine is deep and flexible, but also easy to use and understand. I especially love the onboard modulation capabilities, including both step modulation and multiple LFOs for level, pitch, and filter. Each sound can include up to two layers with separate assignable modulation for each. This means you can create some unique sequences, stereo fields, and layers for everything from plucks to pads, to keys, and everything in between. The sound of this synth is very retro on the surface, but the deep modulation capabilities allow this synth to shine in many different contexts. As with most UVI products, Mission 6 can be used both within the free UVI Workstation and within UVI’s flagship synth, Falcon. UVI continues to put out interesting sonic goodness at price points that don’t break the bank.
