Thoughts
Lost Synth is intended to add analog sounds to your tracks…but without the fuss of expensive hardware gear and cables. To that end, there are both 200 presets to get you started and a flexible sound design engine that allows you customize the 80 included soundsources to create something unique to you. The sounds of Lost Synth fall mostly into the dusty and dirty part of the analog landscape, with sounds like midrangy pads and warbly sustains, but the beauty of the instrument is found within the easy-to-use engine that allows you to customize what you’re hearing.
There are two sound engines that you can load up with the same or different sound sources, and then the fun begins. From oscillating rhythmically between soundsources, to customizing unique fx and ambiences, to incorporating Westwood’s unique ‘Memories’ engine (a unique collection of controls that falls somewhere between an arpeggiator and a delay that creates really cool shimmers, echoes, and sparkles) and more, it’s easy to take one of the 200 presets or 80 soundsources and create something unique. However, if you’re someone who doesn’t like turning knobs and experimentation, you can still take advantage of the unique sound design engine by using the ‘Get Lost’ control – a randomizer that randomizes the sounds, fx, Memories, and other controls. The sounds of Lost Synth feel authentically analog, and the engine lets you quickly and easily turn that sounds into something unique to your own sonic use case. Make sure to check out Westwood‘s video walkthrough for a deeper dive into the instrument.
