Halfblood 2 is a ride to another realm, with 11 million possibilities this will be great for those scoring drama, suspense, sci-fi, trailer tracks, and of course horror but I also am hearing instrument playback that I think is going to be useful for those of us who like to add a dash of world colors to our songs and scores.

Halfblood 2 normally sells for $184.00 from Insanity Samples
A library of 130 unique live sound sources 104 of which are world instruments and 26 synths. Halfblood 2 ranges from banjos to antique two-string zither instruments being bowed. The collection of textures and sounds is enormous, and with the option of loading four of them across all 130 textures, it contains 11 million potential sound combinations.
I think this is going to be useful for those scoring fantasy, sci-fi, drama, suspense, trailer tracks and of course horror. But I am also hearing instrument playback that I think is going to be useful for those of us who like to add a dash of world colors to our songs or scores, In fact, there is so much content here with the 11 million possibilities, that honestly, you may have a very different experience than I do loading up some presets, playing around for a couple of hours and finding new uses and inspiration that I havent stumbled across yet.
If I have any critique it’s that the GUI feels a little dated, like an interface I would expect from a Kontakt 5 instrument from a couple years ago, and I dont think it entirely communicates the exceptional playback the instrument has to offer. Those more seasoned composers of course, won’t be focused on the GUI but on listening to the playback so this is a minor factor but something to note.
