Thoughts
Cattaneo Pianos brings something beautiful and unique to an oft overly cluttered sampled piano landscape. The bundle includes both an upright piano and an electric piano, along with a special cassette piano loop and sound library (not sold separately). The upright piano strikes a great balance between playability and tone. It feels almost like a felted piano, but the additional layers add flexibility, allowing you to create pads and more. The electric piano sounds fantastic. There is an edginess to it but the tone can still remain soft and sweet. The added layers here allow you to create some unique sounds. Overall, the library feels like a perfect fit for ambient and minimalistic music lovers. The cassette library is a fun bonus that includes some very cool cassette sounds (transport control sounds, etc.) and stylized cassette piano loops. I really want to experiment with playing some of the upright and electric piano over these loops as a sound bed. All in all, I’m impressed. This is a very focused library that does what it does beautifully – with minimalistic ambient grace.
