Review: Time Textures by Sonuscore

Borrowing material from their orchestral content and combining it with an intuitive modulation matrix, Sonuscore have brought to life orchestral sustained patches that move and breathe and will fit wonderfully into underscore, cinematic, and ambient tracks and scores.

Thoughts

Sonuscore are well-known for their orchestral content. However, Time Textures takes what might normally be considered familiar orchestral content into a new sonic space. Time Textures is all about movement.

There are 25 sampled instruments, but one of the excellent features of this library is that the orchestral content of each instrument exists in small sound “particles” that are combined to create a living and moving performance. These “particles” combine small snippets of multiple articulations to introduce movement and variance into your performances. Not only can you create fantastic drones with this library – you could easily score entire scenes with this library.

Time Textures makes the modwheel the star of the show. Unlike simple control over dynamics or expression that you might expect from a standard orchestral-based library, Time Textures makes almost everything assignable to the modwheel.

However, this is done in a customized way that allows you to not only introduce the amount of an effect or sound the modwheel controls, but even when in the cycle of movement the modwheel will trigger the effect or sound. Again, almost every parameter within Time Textures is assignable to the modwheel in a custom and intuitive way that allows you to create exactly the amount of movement you want to dial in – movement of parameters and sliders, but also movement across octaves and speeds. Intuitive, beautiful, and with loads of presets to get you started, Time Textures is a winner for those looking for both easy and customizable underscore-in-a-box.
