Review: Doomstrophic by Online Music Foundry

by

I’ve always overlooked Padshop and since opening Doomstrophic I really regret that. Online Music Foundry shows us what Padshop 2 is capable of! With orchestral strings, brass, percussion and synthesised these dark, cinematic soundset are capable of creating scores for horror, crime, tension, and more. The presets also include weird and wonderful instruments the result is one of the most unsettling, compelling, and downright fun toolkits of sounds that I’ve heard in recent memory. If you’re looking for something to fill the darker side of your cinematic palette, this might just be for you!

Checking Out: Doomstrophic by Online Music Foundry

I have to admit, when I was asked to review Doomstrophic, despite being a Cubase user for years, I have never tried Padshop. Having installed Doomstrophic I didn’t know what to expect although the assumption was that it was going to be all pads. Oh, boy was I wrong!

I have been blown away with this soundset and have not been able to put it down. It is full of dark cinematic patches, off the wall sound design while spanning a variety of different genres. Not only is it great value for $49 but I would happily pay double for the content that is found within. The sound design is clean, it has fit into every project I have thrown at it and these presets can always be tweaked in Padshop or using third-party plugins to create even more awesome sounds. Online Music Foundry are clearly a developer to watch as Doomstrophic has shown me the not only the capabilty of Padshop but also the talent of this company’s sound designers. Doomstrophic is one of the most innovative, diverse and mind-blowing soundsets on the market. A must-buy for any film/tv/video game composer.
