Checking Out: Braaass by Ujam

Following up from their Striiiings and Drums libraries, Braaass is the third installment in the Symphonic Elements series, which borrows phrases and recordings from Hans Zimmer’s personal collection. However, this phrase-based instrument moves beyond Han’s own cinematic sound into pads, sequences, and sound designed instruments.

Thoughts

While the origins of Braasss are found in the cinematic recordings and phrases from Hans Zimmer’s personal collection, the finished product covers everything from cinematic underscore to trap, EDM, and even wild sound design experiments. While a phrase-based library can understandably be labeled as “restrictive”, Braaass offers plenty of flexibility within its phrase-based eco-system to allow you to tailor many aspects of the 250+ presets and 78 different playing styles. While there is a good amount of baked-in reverb, the quality of the samples is undeniable. Braaass will make a great tool for everything from cinematic layering to trailer tracks to EDM, but it’s equally useful in serving as an inspiration platform to get those creative juices flowing.

Facts

Braaass comes housed in Ujam’s own proprietary engine and is available in VST 2, VST 3, AU 2, and AAX formats. It requires 6.31GB of free disk space, includes 78 playing styles, and includes over 250 presets.
