Checking Out: Resonate – Cinematic Percussion, Impossible Aftershocks by Spitfire Audio

by

Percussionist extraordinaire Evelyn Glennie has teamed up with the ever-enigmatic Spitfire Audio to create the mind-bending Resonate. This often-experimental library takes the idea of percussion to a new level by pairing up various percussion instruments with four resonating instruments. With every strike, bow and impact, these instruments resonate together creating a rich and unexpected landscape of otherworldly sonic delights. Certainly, one of the most interesting libraries this year in terms of concept, but most importantly, how does it sound?

Checking Out: Resonate -Cinematic Percussion, Impossible Aftershocks by Spitfire Audio

Resonate is somewhat of a special library in that whilst it doesn’t fit snuggly into every genre of music, when used correctly it can be the magic that sets your score apart from the others. It’s a sound design masterpiece crammed full of both beautiful and spine-tingling resonances which are full of life and character. Evelyn Glennie and Spitfire Audio want us to feel the resonances contained within and this library conveys that in spades. It’s unique, it’s different and Resonance is a whole lot of fun. This is a niche library but one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend as I can think of so many different applications for it! The price point is great and the library is another example of a stunning collaboration from Spitfire Audio.
