Following on from the highly innovative, and tongue-in-cheek Retro Pong, Lunatic Audio have released their first major plugin, Narcotic. Narcotic is a great way to add motion, pulse, and life into any piece of audio. While this is the selling point, it really is a huge and devastatingly pretty sound design plugin. While the presentation and quirks are really fun, the sound design is excellent. With an intuitive design and a huge amount of presets to get you going, Narcotic will give you endless sound design options for your audio.

Having spent hours and hours with Narcotic, I have to admit, it didn’t feel like hours and hours. Giving my much loved and well used WAV files a new lease of life felt like a magical moment. Not only magical as the GUI is a lot of fun to play with, but magical in a sense that anything can happen. This is the beauty of Narcotic, the sound quality is exceptional and the possibilities are endless. What more could you want? I found the learning curve to be fair and got to grips with Narcotic pretty quickly. Through the presets, I was creating bespoke sound design really quickly. The randomise feature is really useful for the composer on the go and the whole plugin oozes class. I know this is a plugin that I will spend a large part of my time with and certainly one that I will eventually learn every facet to. Is it worth your time? If you want killer sound design, in depth controls and great looks, Narcotic is the way forward!
