Checking Out: Cyber Core by Zero-G
Cyber Core’s four-layer synth engine design enables users to create diverse soundscapes with a launching off points of presets categorized into action, tense, sneaky, and freaky snapshots. With additional modulation, effects, and randomization options the instrument is packed full of heart pounding action aggression.
The instrument’s playback of multiple loops doesn’t feel completely sliced diced and grid locked, which I feel adds character with often natural, human feel. Playing though many of the presets I found it tended to play pretty hot, hitting the red of the Kontakt stereo output at time. Although the instrument allows for plenty of dynamic range and controls to bring down the volume for each sample playback. You get a different feel depending on what octave you play in (bass pulse, crunchy synth rhythms or alarms) making the instrument even more flexible and useful.
Although the library excels as a cue builder in a very specific style with easy animation thanks to the 4 layer XY controls and filter movement, I personally feel I will utilize Cyber Core for its ability to add rhythmic layers to orchestral or organic compositions, especially for action sequences. Enhancing existing tracks rather than as a standalone tool.
You get a lot of bang for your buck with Cyber Core especially considering the intro price of $52.95!
