Review: Nørdic Bass Clarinet by Have Audio
Have Audio’s Nørdic Bass Clarinet delivers a beautifully detailed and intimate sampling experience that immediately impresses upon first play. The continuation of the Nørdic Series showcases exceptional sound design, particularly evident when activating the Warp layer, which opens the door to creative exploration.
The True Legato is a standout feature, offering 4 dynamic layers with smooth modwheel crossfading. It’s intuitive and easy to find the “sweet spot” for realism, especially when combined with adjustable legato speed for fine-tuned playback. The dynamic range controls further enhance the instrument’s expressiveness.
This library’s natural articulations are extensive and include a Nordic Motions bank featuring trills, riffs, bends, falls, rhythms, staccatos, and stops. The Mixed Articulation menu adds advanced techniques like double-tongue performances and staccatissimo. Additionally, a unique collection of key clicks, taps, and a Tech & FX menu expands the creative potential with runs, grace notes, and more.
For sound design enthusiasts, Nørdic Bass Clarinet offers a variety of impulse responses, ranging from halls to massive spaces. The Warped layer and creative presets push the instrument into unexpected territory, transforming it into a texture or atmosphere machine. The Textures layer articulations, complemented by the ICE control and effects, are particularly evocative.
Intuitive controls like the arpeggiator, effects, and Time Warp make it easy to jump into sound design creation. Drag-and-drop sample playback adds further versatility, making this instrument a powerful addition to any composer or producer’s toolkit.
In short, Nørdic Bass Clarinet is a rich and versatile library that blends realism with expansive sound design possibilities, delivering an instrument as inspiring as it is practical.
