In this month’s Composers Secrets show, I share the details of my current mobile music studio with a detailed Studio Tour. I had seen a few videos by Christian Hensen over the years sharing his mobile rigs and thought it was about time I share my current setup.

As a composer working on tight deadlines, I often need to write, mix, master, and deliver projects in as little as 4 hours for my advertising clients. That means even when I am on the go, out on holiday, or traveling, I still needed to have a portable music studio solution that could handle all of my needs.

Fast forward to almost 20 years later and I have evolved my mobile music studio into something that has no compromise from my “home” writing and recording studio.

Complete with a rack-mounted Intel-based Mac Mini, loads of USB ports, and 3 Black Magic docs with 12 SSDs for samples and projects, my current mobile rig is exactly the same as my home studio. I simply add the front and back covers to my shock-mounted rack case and wheel it away with me.

This mobile music rig is constantly evolving as I find new tech and gear that better serves my needs, meets my budget and most importantly integrates into my workflow.
