Shortwave from Rhythmic Robot

Shortwave one of those instruments you get excited about when you hear it’s sample from interference capture from real-life shortwave receiver” and then you dig into the instrument and find it has so many layers! It’s waymore than just a sound effects playback engine.

Shortwave is a soundscape-generating synthesiser. It uses sine waves of two “interference generators”. The sine waves are made of one Fundamental and three Harmonics. The pitch and level as well as randomized LFOs for these can be adjusted and you can get some thermin-like sounds from them.

On Shortwaves rear panel is the sound generation engine. This will let you select the 111 samples of “interference” which include everything from hiss and noise, cyclic effects, to tuning squeals and shrieks; voices, numbers stations, and even Morse code signals. You can use the sound generator to blend these sounds into your signal.

Really cool, eerie, quirky and yet very useful I am loving Shortwave!
