The thing that makes Marble stand apart from other hybrid instruments is the way that Cinematique Instruments has scripted the effects assignment which allows for realtime controls and sound sculpting in ways I had never dreamed of.

Review Marble from Cinematique Instruments

Marble sells for €240 / $270 from Cinematique Instruments

Thoughts

Cinematique Instruments has thrown another hat into the race with their new hybrid instrument Marble. Marble is easy to use, vast in scope with over 900 presets and is extremely hard drive and CPU friendly. I really dug the sounds I heard testing out the presets of Marble and think this is the kind of instrument that inspires you to start writing as soon as you pull up a patch.

Marble Interface Front

The front interface of Marbles

At the heart of the instrument is the “TRACKS” think of these as 2 separate modules to load in sample sets. Each of these sample can then be manipulated with step controls over 12 of the parameters including Volume, pan, length, tune, reverse, shape, filter and stutter.

Once you start playing with the sequence controls you get a feel for them pretty quickly.

Marble Tracks

In this image of Marble’s TRACK panel you can see we have 2 separate sound sets loaded up: Metal Bar & FX Set

The thing that makes Marble stand apart from other hybrid instruments is the way that Cinematique Instruments has scripted the Effects Assignment part of the engine (or MARBLE). This allows control over different values for all 13 effects in 127 steps increments which are controlled via the modwheel. This allows for sculpting and manipulation in real time in ways I had never dreamed of before.
