Review: Lyra High Strings & Musca Low Strings by Vienna Symphonic Library

by

VSL has done it again capturing that elusive “live” orchestral sound this time with microphones pointed at soaring strings on the Synchron Stage for the Big Bang Orchestra series. With such robust articulation sets for these High and Low Strings Ensembles, it’s hard to believe this is the developer’s “Starter Edition.”

Review: Lyra High Strings & Musca Low Strings by Vienna Symphonic Library

Vienna Symphonic Library‘s latest releases in the Big Bang Orchestra series focus in on High and Low String Ensembles. The High Strings library, Lyra, promises a shimmering and well-balanced instrument. For the library, the VSL team captured 14 first violins and 12 second violins playing in unison with 8 violas playing an octave below.

The Low Strings library, Musca, promises a homogenous and balanced sound with well-rounded low end. For the library, the VSL team captured 6 cellos and 4 basses playing together in octaves.

Both libraries were captured at “Stage A” Synchron Stage and should blend seamlessly with the entire Big Bang Orchestra series of libraries. Lyra and Musca do require the FREE Synchron Player (AU/VST/AAX) and a VIENNA KEY or other USB eLicenser to run.

In this video, we take both libraries for a spin to get a feel how they sound right out of the box and I share a mock I did using the instruments to get a feel for how they blend among other Vienna Symphonic Library BBO & Synchron Player libraries.
