Harmonics offers some new unique sounds created from a great concept: capture the secret resonance in a pianos overtones!
The 7 presets that come with the library really show off the instruments abilities with different effects, reverb and attack nd sustain parameters.
With tons of libraries coming out every week it is hard to be intrigued by a new library but when I first heard about Harmonics I was very interested to hear what the instrument plays like. It took a little getting used to since the samples aren’t force-tuned to the keyboard so you don’t have a chromatic instrument to play, you have a sample set created by stripping a piano and playing a sequence of 16 notes which were calculated by sum of the triads.- Did I lose you there? Yeah they lost me too, but they do have this diagram on their website which helps clear up which notes they used.

So I don’t quite understand what they did, I mean I get the concept, but the final details as to how the piano harmonics are activated for the recording is where I get lost – is it played or hammered, bowed? I digress, the important part is the final instrument and it is a pretty cool instrument with some very unique sounds and presets.
All confusion aside I like the instrument as it has some very unique tones and presets that I think will work really well in score and sound design. Big plus is it is very affordable at only €19 (€9 till 15th of April, 2016).
The Facts
Harmonics rewuires the full version of Kontakt 5.5.1 or higher and contains 76 samples that have been captured at 44.1kHz / 24bit.
The library downloads as 250 MB and contains a number of effects including a convolution reverb with three Impulse Responses (Small, Hall, Gold) a and Phaser & Delay effects controls.
Harmonics comes with 7 presets curated by VSTOff titled Lyric Heaven, Blues Waves, Resolution, Unique Case, No Dream, Double Bass and White Cat Rotorize.
In addition you have Attack & Release and release controls on the front of the instruments interface.
