First Look Cinemorphx from Sample Logic (repost)

by

Cinemorphx has a grace to it’s sound quality that easily adds depth and character to an arrangement but can just as easily stand on it’s own. Yes, it’s massive 30GB of sounds and 100’s of controls but with just a few clicks and twists I usually find something inspiring that is spot-on for what I am scoring.

Thoughts

I have to admit, I started my review of Cinemophx months ago. I should have completed it sooner because I really love what Sample Logic has done with this hybrid instrument. I have a dozen or so hybrid instruments that “morph” and have  step controls for effects but what I have found is that over the last couple months I usually start with Cinemorphx when seeking out unique textures.

The reason being is that I just love the sounds and combinations it gives me. At first reading up on the instrument I was a little overwhelmed since it has hundreds of parameters and controls and loads up to 8 samples into the engine. The library comes with a link to a 20 video series on how to use everything in the engine – that is intense!

But after just clicking around and familiarizing myself with the basics of the interface and then learning even more about it when I reviewed Morphestra 2  ( it is the same engine),  I found that with just a few clicks and twists I usually find something inspiring that is spot-on for what I am scoring.

If you are a sample library addict like myself you probably own a dozen or so libraries in this “hybrid” genre. I am kinda glad I took a couple months to work with the library before chiming in with my 2 cents. Getting a chance to use it in real scoring situations is what made me such a huge fan.

Some hybrid instruments are so dominate that I find it difficult to blend in other samples with but what I found with Cinemorphx is that it has a grace to it’s sound quality that easily adds depth and character to a couple simple string lines and can just as easily stand on it’s own.

Facts

Cinemorphx is a Kontakt PLayer instrument compatible with both the full (5.5+) and free version (5 or higher) of Native Instrument KontaktSample Logic built Cinemophx from the sample sets from it’s award winning instruments: AMBIENCE, IMPACTS , RHYTHMS (A.I.R.), THE ELEMENTS and their electronic based instrument SYNERGY. They then crafted 6000 brand new presets from its gigantic 30GB of samples. The interface allows for fully randomization of all samples loading and effects or randomization by category (Atmospheres, Loops, Instruments and Percussives)

At the heart of Cinemophx is the 4 soundcore engine, allowing simultaneous playback of up to 8 soundsources that load into the 4 “modules of the engine. Cinemorphx contains Sample Logic’s proprietary Morph Animator, Step Animator, 3D Mixer, and the only XY mixer for Kontakt.
