Thoughts

I have searched the threads and forums and have yet to find a good full ensemble string library with that “easter” arabic sound. There are a hand-full of good loops and phrase libraries but that doesn’t help when I want to use my own melodic ideas.

This is the 1.5 update of the library I reviewed and what sets this library apart is the instruments sampled & Articulation.

The samples are made from a string section containing: Classical Violin, Baroque Violin, Baroque Stringed, Bass violin, Cello Rock, Stroh Violin, Modern Violin, String instruments, Electric Violin, Fiddle, Yamaha Korg.

To be honest, I didn’t really get the playback “modes” at first until I played through them a couple times. I tend to prefer my modwheel to serve as my dynamics when possible. But after a quick fun through all the articulations I understood that the “modes” are variations or parallels of the selected articulation. At first playback the articulations seem a little far out for me, but I guess that is what is called for when creating the kind of music like the examples in the demos.

The Legato 2 stands out the most as the thing I think of as Arabic Strings. The spirals, trills and scales lean tward the phrase side while giving you the ability to craft them into your work and remain original.I am still confused as to what the “Yamaha Korg” patch is but I loved the sound of the StaccPizz & Spiccato and the Orient articulations for use in things other than just “ethnic” music.

Every once in a while I have a cue that is just calling for that “eastern” string section sound that is impossible to fake with other string libraries – problem solved with Aviram Arabic Strings large variety of string articulations.
