Quick Look: Pain Piano by Silence+Other Sounds
Pain Piano is a sound design library based on prepared piano experiments that delivers a unique set of horror and effects samples. The developer sampled several pianos including a Mornington & Weston, a Collard piano from the 19th century, an old saloon-piano and we feel sorry for these pianos!
The sample-set was captured experimenting with a different objects placed on the strings including “snare tails, metallic sticks, screws, aluminum sheets and large cardboard panels” that will set your cinematic productions apart. Horrific timbres, eerie atonal tones, stinging notes and hair-raising stabs are only a small part of the sounds you will find in Pain Piano.
Pain Piano has a “Piano Smasher” control that randomizes playback of the loaded samples and creates clusters or impacts.
This library also comes with over 130 loops that are tempo sync’d in the Kontakt instruments. The WAV versions are delivered as 24bit 96kHz files so there is plenty of fidelity and clarity to manipulate in your favorite sound design software.
