Quick Look: Electronic Edge by Toontrack
EZX Expansions for EZDrummer 2 are my Pokemon. I am obsessed with getting them all. The continued expansion of the famous drum performance engine continues to be a staple for my workflow and with the release of the new Electronic Edge, it just became more useful in new and unexpected ways.
The heart of what makes this expansion is the curated sample set created by sound designer and composer Richard Veenstra. The new sounds push the preconceived notion of what a drum kit is with foley-style sounds, special effects, and a wide range of fresh and modern kicks, snares, toms, and high hat samples.
The presets also include a collection of “melodic” instruments including designed guitars, harps, and synths making this the kind of instrument pop and rap producers will be able to make complete backing tracks with.
Easily integrating into my EZDrummer 2 workflow I already see the possibilities to creatively expand my beats and percussion programming. The odd and at times downright quicky nature of the Electronic Edge sample set open up ways to experiment with pushing the boundaries of scoring in multiple genres from hip-hop to EDM and all the way to scoring for picture.

Electronic Edge EZX is sample set of drum machines, acoustic percussion, foley and melodic instruments merge, meld and converge in a universe of never-before-heard hybrids of sound designed for the EZDrummer 2 instrument.
The library contains 30 mix-ready kit presets, 370 unique and individually engineered percussive components with 57 kicks, 49 snares as well as a broad range of toms, rims, FX sounds, risers, cymbals, atmospheric sounds, claps, and a selection of Melodic’ instruments with effected guitars, harps, and synths.
