In this first look, I have a 30-minute play with Sample Logic‘s massive new Arpeggio tool, Arpology Cinematic Dimensions. As the name suggests this is a Kontakt instrument built on Arpeggios. Since the library does come with 23 GB and over 1,200 presets, I found that I was able to just scratch the surface of what was possible in 30 minutes.

A true workhorse for those needing to work quickly. I can see how this will be avery valuable tool for those scoring series, EDM and pop music producers.
Arpology Cinematic Dimensions by Sample Logic Presets Browser
One of the features I really like about the instrument is how easy it is to browse and search for presets to start working with. All the presets and samples have deep meta tagging and you are able to select one or multiple TAGS to narrow down your search. There is also a handy “favorites” tag you can select (the heart symbol) that will allow you to pull up your favorite presets and samples at a later date.
The other big stand out in the instrument is the interface (see top image “Main Interface”. Although it is the same functionality as Sample Logic‘s previous X-Y morph engines, this interface is clean and refreshing and easy on the eyes.
On the cons, the pre-release version that I received seems to be very resource heavy. You could hear some click and pops in my first look video which is caused when my system is strained by running out of resources while I do screen captures. Without screen capture, it seemed to playback smoothly, but even the official Arpology CinDim manual recommends 24GB of RAM for using the instrument.
At the end of the first look video, I jokingly said you could compose an entire “new age” album a day with Arpology Cinematic Dimensions but that just might be true! I think I will be doing a deep-dive into the instrument the next time my schedule allows and start curating up a nice selection of customized presets to score with.
