It has been over 6 years since Spitfire Audio released one of their very first instruments, a Solo Strings library for Kontakt. Fast forward to 2018 and the developer has had thousands of hours of sampling and scripting experience producing dozens of award-winning libraries that many of us depend on in our daily work.
In October 2018, after the initial release of the new Spitfire Solo Strings, the developer has updated the library with a new Violin Virtuoso Total Performance patch. After already doing a first look video of the Spitfire Solo Strings I usually wouldn’t go back to just cover an update. . . but this isn’t just any update!
After reviewing all the demos and videos (below) and putting the instrument to use myself in the first look video above, I have to say that this is the kind of game-shaker we have been waiting for. Somehow the talented development team over at Spitfire have managed to create a Kontakt instrument that is easy and intuitive to play legato, staccato, variations of vibrato and trills all without the need for keyswitching or extreme midi programming.
With just a little expression, dynamics and vibrato control in my right hand and keyboard performances in my left, the new Spitfire Solo Strings Violin Virtuoso Total Performance Patch delivers a surprisingly controllable, fluid and realistic performance triggering the gorgeous samples from Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall!
Spitfire Solo Strings downloads as 42.8 GB. The library contains a sample set of 3 separate Solo Violin, Viola, Cello & Bass recordings. Spitfire Solo Strings is a Kontakt Player Instrument compatible with both the full and free Kontakt Player 5.6.8 or higher.
