First Look: Tonal Ticky Tackies by Cinesamples
Can be used as stand-alone or augment ensemble scores
Much more interesting than the standard “tick-tock” samples
Blends well with acoustic and organic instruments
X-Y axis panning works well

The interface is not pretty
Would have liked to have seen more sounds and presets for the asking price
Clock samples have been a useful tool in my palette and Tonal Ticky Tackie’s acoustic and semi-tonal playback takes the concept a big step further. This Kontakt instrument will be a dream to work with for those of us scoring to picture and looking for unique and creative timbres for manipulating the perception of time.

First Look: Tonal Ticky Tackies by Cinesamples

Cinesamples has released what it is calling “one of our most unique libraries to date.” The Kontakt instrument is a collection of semi-tonal percussion instruments which have been carefully programmed to take the concept of “tick-tock” non-tonal synthetic clock-like samples to create moving sonic textures.
What I love about the instrument is it’s clean and an organic sample set designed specifically for rhythmic patterns. So often when scoring to picture I am looking for a way to quickly add subdivision to a the music and change up the feel. I think this will be a dream to work with for those of us scoring to picture and looking for unique and creative timbres for manipulating the perception of time.
“Advanced tab controls the panning of the sound sources when the Pan Style is set to Advanced. The blue dot shows the perceived location of the sound sources in 3-D space. The X axis and Y axis controls are LFO’s that control the movement of this dot. The Panner Presets button provides access to 24 Advanced Panning presets.”
