Soundiron released a new and exotic percussion kit in collaboration with British instrumentalist and media composer David Oliver.
David has extensive experience scoring and collaborating on scores for documentary and films and lends his unique percussive voice with 100 original rhythmic compositions and over 6,600 loop performances. For the captured performances, David played over 130 Instruments including a number of David’s own percussion instrument creations. Don’t let the “loops” identifier stop you from checking out this library though as the team at Soundiron have made this a massively customizable performance tool.
Rhythmic Odyssey contains a range of styles and genres, from what you might think of as “traditional ethnic” performances to more rocking grooves. A quick flipping through the samples or listening through the official demos shows just how versatile this library is for scoring composers and music makers alike.
For example, I can see myself turning to this library for not only creating exotic percussive beds for underscore but also as a custom shaker/tick-tock machine – which is something I am often looking for when scoring for trailers and spots.
All the rhythmic compositions are delivered as both WAV files as well as key switchable selections of the 6 Kontakt presets. The Multitrack nki allows for users to load up loops into the 4 modules at once. The amount of power in the engine starts to shine when you have a look at how the loop collection can then be keyswitched between each of the 12 slots inside each module.
The built-in loop browser allows for easy searching for specific styles, tempo and time signature making finding loops to start with a breeze.
That is just the tip of the instruments as each individual transient slice can be manipulated with playback direction, slice order, ADSR and custom step-automation sequencing for volume, pitch, pan, filter cutoff and resonance parameters. Plus, I really love the “free draw” pencil tool functionality that makes adding automation to the transient slice modifiers a breeze.
