First Look: Modern Animated Percussion by Sample Logic

When two heavy-hitter developers like Sample Logic and Soundiron team up for an instrument it is going to turn some heads. M.A.P. promises infinite sonic options with a huge collection of samples and a powerful new midi drum step-sequencing engine.

What I was excited to check out with M.A.P. was the new engine paired with a massive collection of top-notch samples from Soundiron. Though M.A.P. is not a loop instrument, the engine seems to be a conceptual extension of Sample Logic‘s previous loop-based libraries (Expeditions, Electro City & Rhythmology) but shifts focus to step sequencing which should open a world of possibilities and open up a world of flexibility.

In this first look, I share an hour or so listening through the presets and experimenting with some of the parameters in an attempt to scratch the surface of what M.A.P. has to offer.

Facts

Modern Animated Percussion (M.A.P) contains percussive hits ranging from World samples to EDM all housed in a 4- Core step sequencer

MAP includes 4,000 samples and 2,000 presets available through the Preset Browser. The library also supports Dynamic FX with step animation, a Mixer and Master Effects controls. On top of that individual sections or the entire instrument can randomly load in all parameters with the Randomize function.

M.A.P. does require Native Instruments Kontakt 5.8.1 or higher.
