Thoughts
Spitfire‘s second collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra delivers a very unique sample set housed in the developer’s powerful Evo Grid engine. The evolving acoustic textures were created by layering unexpected combinations of instruments and this sample set is full of inspiration.

For the library, the Spitfire team took a unique approach to capturing the samples, opting for recording in an aircraft hangar. This offbeat pop-up studio is heard instantly in playback with the different instruments swirling around together creating more than the sum of their parts with a lush 10-second reverb tail.

Most surprising to me as I checked out the instrument for the first time is just how melodically playable some of the presets are. Don’t get me wrong, you won’t be substituting deep, multi-sampled legato instruments with this set, but I did, however, find some of the presets to inspire original melodic passages I might not have stumbled upon otherwise.
“LCO Texture’s constantly evolving organic palette was created by layering unexpected combinations of instruments inspired by recent scores like Suspiria with Thom Yorke, American Animals with Anne Nikitin and You Were Never Really Here with Jonny Greenwood.”
