PRE-RELEASE First Look: Ethera Gold 2.0 by Zero-G

by

Zero-G goes for the gold again, with a huge update to one of their most popular libraries Ethera Gold 2.0. When you take it to the higher dynamics and the singer (Clara Sorace) unleashes her full range, there is serious power that is truly stunning, and the fact the transitions are varied by velocity and have multiple round robins, the performances you can get with just the “true legato vocal” patch are incredible

Thoughts

Ethera Gold was already a great library, so I think users will be very pleased with the 10 GB of updates, which make this library even better and more versatile for not only composers but EDM/pop producers as well, so it will be a great addition to new users as well. The action and core synth may take some experimentation and tweaking to get the most out of it, even with the included snapshots, but to me it is just icing on the cake for the incredible vocal content, which is where this library truly shines and outdoes the competition.

While we have many libraries capable of convincing legato, this is the best I’ve heard, as well as the most versatile. It does great at low dynamics, but when you take it to the higher dynamics and the singer (Clara Sorace) unleashes her full range, there is serious power that is truly stunning, and the fact the transitions are varied by velocity and have multiple round robins, the performances you can get with just the “true legato vocal” patch are incredible.

I would have liked more volume consistency across patches, as some of the snapshots will be too loud or too quiet as you scroll through them. While I appreciate the addition of the action synth and core synth, I found them to be a bit of an afterthought compared to the groundbreaking vocal content, which doesn’t mean they are bad, just not nearly as good as the vocals in my opinion.
