With the new VSTBuzz deal, I dug into the instruments hoping to answer the question I have gotten a dozen times this week, “Should I get Stormdrum 3?”

Checking Out: Stormdrum 3 & 2 by EastWest

In this checking out video, I play through a number of the presets and instruments to get a feel for what both Stormdrum 2 & 3 have to offer.

The main reason for checking out both instruments together is because with the current VSTBuzz deal offer (60% OFF off each) I wanted to play through and have a listen to the Stormdrum 3 sample set and get an idea if this is something I would recommend as I have received dozens of emails/messages this week asking what I thought about these libraries.

Although I have had Stormdrum 2 for some time now, I found a surprising number of patches I had overlooked or neglected. I use the library regularly with the Ethnix Metals, Earthquake Ensemble and the Sound Design Percussion making its way into a number of my tracks over the years.

SD2 has been around for a while, but I still find it to have a great sample quality and some real gems. I do recommend this library for composers looking for a nice range of percussion from ethnic to organic trailer percussion. I was even surprised to hear the “glitch” and Sound Design instruments with so much range that I will be revisiting them for the next time I am working on a trailer track.

As for the SD3 the samples and recording quality is superb! This will be a great addition to anyone looking to expand their percussion arsenal into unique and exciting world and ethnic percussion and of course for anyone scoring for picture lf you are looking for a fresh set of instruments, you will find it here!

The big bonus on these is the tempo synced loops with performances by Mickey Hart, with Greg Ellis, Chalo Eduardo and Nick Phoenix. Such a refreshing set of performances and a nice quantity as well as diversity.

There is plenty here on offer with both instruments and although I do recommend them, head over to  VstBuzz for all the details to learn if this instrument is right for you.
