Thoughts

This library is a very niche and specific sound, so if you are looking for VERY raw and unpolished performances for the violin, viola, and cello, this may be exactly what you’re looking for. You get eight articulations, including a variety of short notes and three lengths of marcatos. The instruments were recorded fairly close, but you have options for additional reverb in the GUI itself. The sound is very niche and specific, and solo strings played aggressively can be very grating and harsh, which will fit in very well with manic and aggressive avant-garde scores but won’t fit with more traditional orchestral arrangements as say, a first chair in a string section. I noticed quite a few tuning issues and volume inconsistencies here and there, but I believe this can be attributed to the raw and gritty nature of the library. For instance, the “aggression” layer was just too much for me, almost always being out of tune and vastly louder in db level than the rest of the articulations, so it caused the level to clip, so I needed to set up a separate track just for the aggression layer and lower the volume to match the rest. If you’re after something with TONS of character and a sense of rawness, this is probably it!
