Thoughts

The instruments sampled for this library are the french horn and flugelhorn, and overall they present a very breathy and mellow experience when playing the sounds. The library specifically mentions it is NOT aimed at bold, agile heroic horns that you’d expect from, say, a super hero movie. On the contrary, these samples are quite moody, textured, and breathy, and have a very human, organic quality to them. This makes it that much more interesting that the library itself is capable of some incredibly dark and abrasive synthetic sounds- I’m used to either having “synth brass” or “deep sampled brass”, and this one combines the two in a very unique way that I have yet to hear in any other library. I was very impressed with the sounds I was able to coax out of it, not just with the included snapshots, but by easily combining individual articulations and layers. Another winner in my book, just be sure you know what to expect- this is a very experimental and moody library, and while there’s no mistaking the original samples are brass instruments, it’s not meant for traditional brass orchestral arrangements.
