Checking Out: Jazz Anthology Guitar by Authentic Soundware

Four-to-the-Floor Swing, Zero Fuss: The third in the Anthology series from Authentic Soundware really ups the anti with new chord arranger library, drag and drop midi and nailing that classic “4-to-a-bar” archtop jazz guitar comping style.

Checking Out: Jazz Anthology Guitar by Authentic Soundware
Jazz Anthology Guitar promises the essential component of the classic jazz rhythm section From quintessential swingin’ single note lines to full chords and boy does it deliver! For Authentic Soundware’s 3rd in their Anthology series of libraries they created a very focused jazz guitar library that’s all about nailing that classic 4-to-the-bar comping feel without a lot of fuss. It’s built around a 1947 Gibson L-5 recorded in a high-end studio, so the core tone immediately sits in that old-school big band / swing space.
The big win here is how playable it is working from a keyboard or programming in your DAW. Playable Chords mode lets you strum your own voicings with different stroke lengths and styles (short, medium, long, upstroke, falls, rakes), so you’re not locked into preset patterns. There’s also a Single Note Strum mode that makes it easy to add those quarter-note “Freddie Green” lines where one note drives the rhythm but still feels like a guitar, not a synth. End chords are provided too, so you can finish tunes or phrases with convincing, styled cadences instead of awkward cutoffs.
The Chord Arranger is a standout feature for workflow. It works like a little chord library where you can store 24 voicings per preset, recall them on keys, and flip between shapes that might be tough or impossible to finger in real life on a keyboard. The fact that it ships with 30 ready-made jazz guitar chord presets means even non-guitarists can get authentic voicings quickly, while power users can build their own sets for specific tunes and save them as presets.
Jazz Anthology Guitar comes with six signals (mic/amp positions0 with a close ribbons, tube small-diaphragm, DI, vintage Gibson amp, overhead, and room, plus a mixer and ability to send signals to different outputs routings. You can go from dry, tight studio comping to roomy, old-record vibes fast. The built-in FX (tape-style saturation, reverb with custom impulses, EQ, stereo tools, limiter) make it very self-contained, so you can often stay inside the instrument instead of stacking extra plugins just to get it to sit right in a mix.
Overall, Jazz Anthology: Guitar feels like a practical, gig-ready tool for swing, standards, and classic jazz projects rather than a flashy “do everything” guitar library. If you need believable rhythm guitar that drops into a traditional jazz rhythm section with minimal programming, this is a strong, specialized option that rewards both quick sketching and more detailed arranging.
