Thoughts
Sonuscore’s Elysion ensemble engine is a four-layered powerhouse, with up to four different sounds, each with independent arpeggiators, fx, mixing, motion, and pan controls.
Now, with Dark Horizon, Sonuscore has taken the Elysion ensemble engine, doused it in gasoline, and set it on fire with dark, aggressive soundscapes, pulses, pounding basses, and more. Dark Horizon can serve as the foundation for dark and dystopian underscore, but it is also excellent for tension tracks.
With full control over four independent sound sources, you can create rich and complex sounds, or easily extract a pounding bass or percussive pulse as a single sound. There are 180 excellent themes to get you started, but it’s easy to create your own complex and moving sounds. One of the best parts of the Elysion engine is the way in which it utilizes the modwheel.
Rather than simply controlling dynamics as you might expect, the modwheel allows you to morph a sound into something entirely different with two snapshots for each arpeggiator and independent motion control for each sound layer. With MIDI drag and drop functionality, you can also easily export the MIDI you create using the independent arpeggiators to layer your own instruments with the sounds found in Dark Horizon. Dark Horizon is an excellent addition to the Elysion family of instruments.
