The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) convention is one of the biggest events in the music industry, bringing together manufacturers, retailers, and musicians from around the world. Every year, NAMM showcases the latest and greatest in music technology, instruments, and accessories, giving attendees a sneak peek into the future of music. Today we’re taking a look at our top picks from the NAMM 2023 show floor. Sharing the announcements and news for music software (and one bit of kit) that got us excited about the future.

Realitone tease Sunset Choirs at NAMM 2023

Fresh off the success of Realitone‘s Sunset Strings and Nightfall sample libraries, Realitone just announced their upcoming release, Sunset Choirs at NAMM 2023. The library consists of 10 women and 10 men recorded at United Recording in Hollywood. The collection includes standard and unique articulations, vowel morphing sounds, and rhythmic sounds, as well as oohs and ahs.

Sunset Choirs’ standout feature is its two-layer system, with seamless morphing from one layer to the next via the mod wheel. The library also includes swells, repetitions, and glissandos, featuring both ensembles and solos with a range of different sounds. Eclipse Sounds shares new vocalist datasets at NAMM 2023,

Eclipsed Sounds is a third-party developer for Dreamtonics’ VStudio, a vocal synthesizer. The company offers professional-grade singers for the VStudio, including a soprano and bass vocalist. The tenor vocalist set is also expected to debut later in the year.

With the vocal synthesizer, producers can edit the pitch, pronunciation, and length of each consonant and vowel for full control over voice production. This means that producers can create unique and personalized voices for their projects.

Eclipsed Sounds’ Solaria voice database provides even greater versatility with exclusive features for VStudio Pro, allowing for parameterized automation. The VStudio Pro is a paid version of the vocal synthesizer and offers additional features for professional producers.

 

The pricing and release date for the tenor vocalist set are yet to be announced. However, the Eclipsed Sounds website offers the soprano and bass

 

 

Zynaptiq tease the upcoming release of Orange Vocoder 4 at NAMM 2023

Zynaptiq’s Orange Vocoder 4 plugin is a powerful tool for producers and musicians alike. With 24 different vocoding modes, including speech modeling and zero-latency analog modeled features, the plugin allows for a wide range of creative possibilities. The built-in synthesizer comes with modulation options, polyphonic distortion, and ring modulation options, making it easy to come up with cool synth sounds. The mouse-over menus also make the plugin user-friendly and easy to navigate.

.The plugin is compatible with VST2, VST3, AAX native audio units on Mac and Windows, and Apple Silicon native out of the gate, making it accessible to a wide range of users. The introductory price of $149 makes it an affordable option for those looking to enhance their music production.

 

SoundToys Showcase Superplate at NAMM 2023

Those of you who have been reading SRL or tuning into the Deal Compressor show each week, know that I am a big fan of SoundToys. At NAMM 2023 the developer was showcasing an upcoming release, Superplate.

One of the most notable features of Superplate is its emulation of vintage plate reverbs, which produces a warm, rich sound reminiscent of classic recordings from the 1950s and 60s. The plugin also offers a variety of creative tools for manipulating the reverb sound, including a built-in tremolo effect and a modulation section that allows for complex and dynamic soundscapes.

Superplate also includes a variety of presets and a user-friendly interface, making it easy to navigate and use.

 

SuperPlate will be sold individually for $149 MSRP or as a trade-up from Little Plate to SuperPlate for $59. SuperPlate can be added to the Effect Rack plug-in for $59. Along with the Soundtoys V5.4 bundle, SuperPlate is expected to ship sometime in May 2023.

 

 

Toontrack showcase EZkeys 2 at NAMM 2023

Toontrack was showcasing the upcoming release of EZkeys 2 at NAMM 2023 this year. The library will include new features and a new core sound and MIDI library, Bandmate, Tap2Find, Paino New Sample Library, and Grid Editor bringing it up to speed with the developer’s current engine for EzDrummer2 and EZBass

The EZkeys 2 business model follows the same principle as other EZ Line products and requires the core product to run expansion content.

Yamaha announce YH-WL500 Wireless Stereo Headphones at NAMM 2023

Ever wonder why there are no pro-level Bluetooth wireless headphones? So far the culprit is latency., but it looks like Yamaha has cracked the latency issue with the release of the new Yamaha YH-WL500 Wireless Stereo Headphones at NAMM last week. Yamaha has announced its latest headphone release, which reduces latency the headphones have a semi-open-back design, frequency response of 20 Hz-20 kHz, and a battery life of nine hours. The headphones cost £ can simultaneously receive a Bluetooth signal from your device [1][2]. The YH-WL500 Wireless Stereo Headphones are now available for purchase on the Yamaha website.

 

The YH-WL500 Wireless Stereo Headphones are the solution to the problem of latency when playing instruments wirelessly [3]. The headphones operate through a transmitter and charging dock that connects the instrument or amplifier’s headphone socket, which beams the sound into the headphones. The internal rechargeable battery can operate for nine hours and can connect via a 3.5mm jack cable [3]. The headphones are priced at £349 and are available for purchase on the Yamaha website.
