Fracture Sounds Releases Alternative Woodwind Soloists

by

Fracture Sounds has released Alternative Woodwind Soloists, a Kontakt Player sample library of less common orchestral winds. The collection features alto flute, bass flute, bass clarinet and tenor recorder, instruments that larger orchestral libraries tend to overlook. It acts as a sequel to Emotive Woodwind Soloists and is aimed at composers working in classical styles, from baroque to romantic and neo-classical.

The instruments were captured at Nave Studios, alongside the developer’s other Soloists libraries. The library provides 31 articulations, including legato, and three microphone positions: close, mid and far. Fracture Sounds describes the sound as breathy and richly organic, intended to fill gaps next to Emotive Woodwind Soloists and to bridge towards the folk winds of Compendium: Eldenvale.

Performance is handled by the Smart Legato engine, which uses lookahead technology for expressive melodic lines. An enhanced Smart Trill engine, first introduced in Petrichor, triggers trills automatically when intervals up to a major 2nd are held, or up to a major 3rd on the alto flute. Instrument Placement allows any instrument from the five Soloists libraries to be positioned across 15 seats in the hall at Nave Studios, using In Situ, Custom Position or Stereo Centre modes.

Alternative Woodwind Soloists runs in the free Kontakt Player, version 7.6 or later, and includes full NKS support for Komplete Kontrol hardware. The download is 20.1GB, NCW compressed from a 42GB sample pool, and is delivered through Native Access 2. Fracture Sounds recommends 16GB of RAM, an 8-core processor and SSD storage.

Alternative Woodwind Soloists is a Kontakt Player NKS compatible library available now at $112 (normally $149) – for all details visit Fracture Sounds
